Some 180 homes were buried by landslides in February when heavy rains hit the town of Ramba in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). People whose homes were destroyed have been left with nothing, seeking shelter with friends and relatives.
The flash floods also damaged the local water supply system, burying established springs in mud, or contaminating them with floodwater. Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) provided 187 families with essential relief items, like cooking utensils, blankets, tarps, mosquito nets, and clothes.
